6. Should I trim the wick? When do I trim the wick?
Yes, you should trim the wick after each burn. Trim the wick to about 1/4" above the
top of the candle. Be sure to wait until the candle is cool befor trimming the wick, so you don't accidently burn yourself.
7. Do I trim the wick the first time before the burn?
No, we trim the wick to the best length for you, so our candles are ready to burn.
8. How long do I leave the candle burning for the
first burn?
For the first burn, you should burn the candle at least one hour. Two
to three hours is best for the candle. Make sure the total surface of
the candle is liquid for a better even burn.
9. What is the maximum time to burn the candle?
Candles should be left burning no more than 4 hours at a time. Never leave the candle burning when you are gone from the house.
10. What type of wick do you use?
We use zinc core
wicks, because they are safe and burn evenly.
Lead wicks are not allowed for candle manufacturers in
the US because of possible lead issues. Cheaper imported candles
sometimes have lead wicks, so always ask what kind of wicks are being
used.
11. What type of wax do you use?
We use a special blended wax that burns cooler than
most and puts off less smoke than most. The blend is a natural oil and petroleum blend.
12. What if I get smoke around the candle jar.
Check
to make sure you have properly trimmed the wick to about 1/4" above the
top of the candle. You can wipe the container after each burn with a
damp cloth. Be sure to wipe after you have blown out the candle and let
it cool a bit, so you don't burn yourself. This shouldn't be much of an
issue because our candles smoke very little depending on the fragrance.
